A Simple Twenty Twelve Child Theme to Download and Play With

We’ve already had several posts up on VoodooPress involving child themes. And I often provide guidance on using child themes. But sometimes it’s hard to get started out. Well, here we have a nice, basic child theme to get you started! This theme doesn’t do anything but get you started out. It’s just a style.css and functions.php file with no modifications made. You can download it and install it – that way you can hit the ground running and start your own modifications! If you have any questions about using this, or making your own tweaks – feel free to ask!

WordPress 3.5 is Here – Time to Upgrade and Enjoy Some Pretty Fancy Changes!

WordPress 3.5 has just dropped on the masses. It’s time to play the upgrade game! Hopefully you’ve taken the time to maybe install it locally, or run it on a test site (I keep one handy in a subdomain) with your themes and plugins – just to make sure you don’t run into any problems. This is a pretty nice release, you can check out the release notes on the WP blog of course, but what has changed?

VoodooPress Facelift Begins

I’ve been a bit torn lately. When VoodooPress launched, WordPress was using the Twenty Ten theme. We made it the goal to always be using the newest WordPress theme. When WordPress launched with Twenty Eleven, we switched over. But this time, Twenty Twelve came out mid-cycle – it didn’t release with a WordPress version. Well, I finally decided to pull the trigger! What we have right now is bare bones Twenty Twelve. I’m about to make a child theme, and will spend the next few weeks slowly customizing the theme. I’ll post anything I figure out as we move along. I definitely plan to make the theme wider, style the widgets, tweak the header, and maybe even get my footer widgets back. Time to play!

WP Theme Generator – The Voodoo Review

Well, this is a first here on VoodooPress! Now we’ve given some pretty brief reviews of products before, but those were simply things I was using – and felt obliged to mention. I figure if I’m using something and it works, or doesn’t work, it’s my job to let all you WordPress peeps know about it! It’s best for the community when we all share what we learn! This time I was approached by WP Theme Generator and asked if I would check out their product. I thought, why not? It looked like a cool product, so I figured we should all check it out together! Just a note, this isn’t a paid review – I was given access to the product so I could thoroughly test, but was not paid. So these opinions are completely my own! Let’s dive in!

Thanks for Using Our Gravity Forms Affiliate Link!

I don’t have many affiliate links on here. I put a couple up here and there when discussing certain products that I enjoy. One of them is our Gravity Forms link, which is used when discussing how to do certain things with Gravity Forms. Not gonna lie, I really dig that plugin – I get a lot done with it! I just wanted to take a second to thank the folks who have purchased the plugin through VoodooPress. This month is the first time I’ve made any money off of the links, and I definitely appreciate it!

Thanks for supporting VoodooPress!

Leftover VoodooPress Shirts

During the VoodooPress shirt giveaway, all of the larger sizes got claimed. I still have a few leftover shirts in sizes S, M, L. I’ll be shipping on Friday morning around 10 (GMT -5), so if you want one you can just send your size preference and mailing address through the VoodooPress Contact form. I’ll hand them out in the order I get a request, if I have your size available!

VoodooPress Contest is Finished!

Our T-shirt contest is all wrapped up! We’ve made about 50 or 60 new friends as a result of this. Which was our only goal, just trying to meet some new people, and get the VoodooPress name out there. Sometime by the ned of the weekend, I’ll be drawing names, and contacting the winners! After that, the shirts will be in the mail! Thanks to everyone who entered!
