Yesterday I was discussing my experiences with relaunching my wife’s personal training and figure competition website, ankhjii.com. In that post I was talking about the decisions I made on relaunch and selecting WooCommerce for our eCommerce solution. Like I discussed in that post, I’m normally a roll your own solution kind of guy. I like to code my own stuff or use minimal plugins with my own adaptation. That’s an old mindset, back 5 or 6 years ago, the WordPress ecosystem wasn’t nearly what it was today. It was difficult to find a plugin that would do what I want and even harder to find a quality theme. Times have changed, here’s my theme selection story.
WordPress 3.8 has just been released and I just finished my upgrades, how about you? I know I haven’t been around much on VoodooPress, a newer job and school have been keeping me insanely busy. I just finished my thesis and have one more class left at school – then I hope to keep things up to date here! But I have been keeping up on WordPress just a bit, and 3.8 is looking pretty sweet!
MobileChief is a new plugin being released by the folks at PluginChief. The goal of the plugin is to ease the process of creating a dedicated mobile site. I was approached by PluginChief about reviewing this new plugin, and I was intrigued. My idea of a mobile site is to grab a responsive theme, and call it a day. I’ve never much concerned myself with any sort of dedicated mobile offering. So I’m a bit of a novice in this area. Why don’t we go ahead and get the MobileChief plugin installed and see what we can accomplish – and while we’re at it, take a look at what else PluginChief has to offer.
